Product MCG™

The MCG™ System is a quick (only 82 seconds for the test), accurate (approximate 90+% overall sensitivity and 85% specificity or better), painless and stress-free (two-lead external ECG) tool for use as an aid in the diagnosis of myocardial ischemia. When compared to current widely-used methods, MCG™ has performed far more accurately and shown its capability to detect ischemia in much earlier stages of the disease process, thereby enabling physicians to intervene early, to prevent premature death, and to save lives. It does this by digitizing and transmitting the resting EKG data to central data servers for processing. This processing utilizes an advanced relational database and sophisticated mathematical analysis to produce a complete, accurate diagnosis along with a severity score. The sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values have been validated in double-blind, independently monitored single and multi-center clinical trials of more 1,500 patients in eight countries and three Continents (Asia, North America and Europe) undergoing coronary angiograms. Comparison to Cardiac CT

MCG™ has far greater sensitivity for partial occlusion (e.g. for 50-70% blockage there is 90-95% sensitivity compared to 82-92% for CT) and for stenosis (>70%) it is 95-100% sensitivity as compared to 82% for CT. Also, there is a significantly lower cost and no radiation exposure.

How MCG™ works

The traditional ECG plot is the summation of the periodic electrical activity in the cardiac cycle of the human heart. MCG™ uses systems analysis to decompose this complex wave-form into simpler mathematical functions, by converting the time domain ECG waveform into the frequency domain and applying sophisticated signal processing algorithms. These functions comprise a multidimensional representation of the ECG signal, which has characteristics that are not visible in the conventional 2-D ECG waveform.

A quantitative analysis then compares the functional characteristics of the decomposed waveform with a database of characteristics of ECG signals sampled from healthy and diseased patients. The population of the database currently includes 35,000 patients between the ages of 14 and 95. Approximately 20% of these patients are normal, while the remaining 80% have been diagnosed with various pathologies.
